Work in Progress. The Hunt: An Art Show

Sneak Peek for THE HUNT art show!

SIA Block Party

So for those of you that don’t know, SIA is happening at the end of the month with all sorts of events in Denver. This is going to be a big one and the Crema art show will be part of it as well.

Here is their blog post and link to the article. Enjoy!

SIA is right around the corner and this year Denver has stepped up its offering of activities, events and parties for industry and non-industry alike. Among some of the larger public events is the Big Air competition, Snowdown SIA Kickoff and the SpaceBox Block Party, which will be happening on Friday January 28th in the art and warehouse district of North Denver.

SpaceBox Productions is a recently formed creative marketing and events company, rooted in action sports and specifically snowboarding. Their goal is to produce interactive events that engage both sponsors and attendees in unique experiences. This will be the production company’s first ever event and includes the Wrong Gear Rail Jam from 4-8 p.m. with pro and amateur contestants competing in a non-traditional, yet true jam format.

Stephen Laterra of 4 Pine Design (the company that handles both Vail’s and Eldora’s parks) was brought in to create a challenging and fun course for riders using features provided by SoGnar’s Mighty Midwest Tour and Prism Rails. Joe Patane of Prism Rails is providing a 20 ft. rail with LED lighting embedded in the center. Teams of riders will launch their teammates into center stage using Banshee Bungees. Riders will be judged individually in categories such as ‘best trick’, ‘best slam’ and ‘best overall style’, among others. 40 riders will compete in this invite-only contest set to take place on the closed off section of 27th street between Walnut and Larimer.

The Chill Foundation was selected by SpaceBox Productions as a beneficiary to the event, and a portion of proceeds from the event will go directly toward their program. Jake and Donna, the founders of Burton Snowboards, started Chill in 1995 in Burlington, Vermont to bring snowboarding to youth who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity. The program had such an immediate and profound impact that Chill has continued to expand into new cities, new board sports and new countries over the past 15 seasons. Since our inception, Chill has positively impacted over 16,500 underserved youth. Following the Wrong Gear Rail Jam, raffle and silent auction winners will be announced at Meadowlark venue, located at 27th and Larimer. Get there at 8:00, so as not to miss the stock pile of goods being given away.

Included in the block party will be a curated art show, representing a grip of talented local artists including: Jon Strieby, Axel Geittmann, Scot Lefavor, Pedro Barrios, Chad Everhart, Sara Ford, Henry Daniel Bell, Bridget Mahoney, AJ McCormick, Chris Huth, Joe Triscari, Jared King, Joe Patane and Lord Science. The theme of the art show is called The Hunt and will take place at Crema Coffee House/ Black Cloud Workshop on 29th & Larimer. Opening reception starts at 7:00. Art work will be for sale.

In addition, three nearby venues (Cassleman’s, Larimer Lounge and Meadowlark) will all be hosting a night of live music and Ink Monstr will finish things off with the official late-night after party. This will be an action-packed evening, bringing together a collaboration of snowboard brands to celebrate and highlight the snow lifestyle and culture. The rail session and art show portion are free and the entire event is open to the public.
Product giveaways and swag from Burton, Skull Candy, Smith Optics, Banshee Bungee, Anon, BC Surf & Sport, and lots more!
